Creative Cake Display 101 It's all in the presentation...
A beautiful cake deserves the right background, table setup, and lighting to make it look its best - both for the camera's lens and the naked eye.
A Beautiful Setup
The Wedding Cake will be a visual centerpiece, but should not be located in a high traffic area where the table could be bumped by servers or guests. The corner across from the entrance may be a good option.
If your cake is white, a darker background (a painted vs. a white wall) will make the cake pop.
Make sure your table linens are pressed and clean.
Greenery brings life to the area surrounding the cake.
A beautiful cake stand or a custom created cake base will make your cake taller and more stately.
Here are a few more ideas for displaying your cake: Color
• Use color wisely to complement a white cake. You can rent table linens in the same color worn by your wedding party to bring the look of the wedding right through to your reception
• Cake colors can be coordinated to complement your wedding colors Lighting
• Soft lighting that casually spotlights the cake will give it an ephemeral look
• Test softly tinted lights and patterned lights to add interest to the cake set up area
• Candles can add romance and softness to the table
• Elegant crystal vases, candle holders and champagne glasses reflect light and add to the ambiance of the cake table
• Silver cake displays, trays, cake servers, candle holders add a classic touch and also catch the light bringing more energy to the cake Do a Background Check:
• Try to avoid busy or dated wallpaper or wood paneling behind your cake
• Use caution if your cake will be located near mirrors or windows. Both reflect the flash of the camera and may show parts of the table setting you are trying to hide.
• When outdoors, walk around the entire area where your cake table will be positioned to look for eyesores such as dead trees, poorly landscaped areas or areas under construction or renovation
